Chung Yuan Christian University’s Department of Landscape Architecture collaborated with the USR HUB project and the Hsinchu City Cultural Affairs Bureau to lead students into the Zili Military Dependents’ Village surrounding the Liukang area. Through field surveys, resident interviews, and participatory workshops, students explored the balance between cultural preservation and urban development.

Drawing on local history, collective memories, and everyday needs, students developed design proposals for cultural continuity and spatial revitalization. The eight project outcomes brought together academia, government, and local residents, demonstrating how USR can cultivate students’ practical capabilities and sense of social responsibility while introducing innovative ideas for local sustainability and cultural preservation.
