CYCU LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
The department cultivates students who possess the concepts of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), cross-disciplinary sustainable environmental planning and design skills, as well as the ability to handle landscape-scale analysis and management of the landscape environment, with an emphasis on participatory design and sustainable planning and design. The course content is flexibly adjusted according to the students’ interests and backgrounds so that they can find their own focus for learning.
To enhance employability, we actively utilize the resources of the department and the full-time and part-time faculty members, so that every graduate of the master’s program who wishes to find employment after graduation will be covered by the “employment umbrella”.
During the planning period, we consulted closely with experts in landscape architecture and the industry in China, and have gained a deep understanding of the broad scope of professional training in geomorphology, and we believe that the integration of practice and theory should be the focus of professional training, and that it should be connected with real environmental issues, such as territorial planning, urban and rural development, sustainable management, and community building. The Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree is still limited to four years, but includes a professional internship and overseas study in the first semester of the fourth year.
The curriculum will be developed over a four-year period, with years 1 to 3 being basic training; the first semester of year 4 being professional internship (arranging internships in industry offices or overseas study tours for students); and the second semester of year 4 being professional integration (graduation design).
The Department offers 91 credits of required courses (including 20 credits of co-requisite university courses). University students must graduate with a minimum of 128 credits, of which at least 23 credits must be elective courses offered by the department (including 14 credits of general studies).
The curriculum is designed to cover a wide range of areas, including not only landscape related knowledge, but also theoretical and professional knowledge related to environmental planning and design, such as architecture and urban planning, as well as cultural landscapes, symbiotic ecology and social sciences, etc. Therefore, the curriculum is planned in terms of academic levels. The curriculum of each level will be integrated with the “Common Subjects” and the six core courses of “Design and Planning Course”, “Basic Skills Course”, “Environment Creation Course”, “Cultural Landscape Course”, and “Symbiosis and Ecology Course”, with the “Design Course” as the main axis of integration.

This master’s program is designed to expand the professional field of “Symbiotic Environment Creation” by adopting the teaching concept of interdisciplinary and dialogic learning, and to provide elective courses for interdisciplinary departments in addition to the needs of landscape professionals.
In addition to the regular courses, the department offers a practical elective. An additional year of study is required to take this option.
The content includes two months of landscape engineering practice, six months of professional practice, and three months of intensive workshops
