Hello, I am the Student council president of Landscape Architecture at Chung Yuan University. First of all, congratulations to all of you who have finally survived the hell of high school studies! So, are you worried about what department to apply for now? What do you want to study in the future? At this youthful age, you love play with your friends, don’t you? Going to the mountains, going to the sea, investigating in the field, and learning about the environment you live in are all part of the daily life of a geography department. So what is Landscape Architecture? In fact, the Landscape Architecture exists in every corner of our life, in short, any space outside the building is our domain. And what are we doing? A group of people who care about the land will get together to think about how to make the environment we live in better, so that all the species that grow on this land can benefit each other. In addition to going to the sea and mountains, I also took design classes, sketching, and cultural courses to explore the space and history of my place, and to see the views and ideas of designers and users from different perspectives, in which I learned to think objectively, express, communicate, and learn the ability of teamwork. Many people wonder what they can do in the future if they study in the Department of Geography. In fact, the Department of Landscape Architecture covers a wide range of fields, and the graduating seniors are developing in all directions, and during these four years, the teachers will encourage you to go to the office or practice in the geography-related industries to learn and observe how to apply what you have learned in the industry, and also use this experience to make yourself more aware of We will also use this experience to better understand our future direction. Of course, we can’t just confine ourselves to our own field of study, we often have the opportunity to collaborate and exchange with other departments in both academic and social activities, so don’t worry that your college life will be dull and boring! Do you want to have a colorful and fulfilling college life? Join the Geoscape family and become a great Landscape Architect with us!
Hi! Dear students, are you still hesitating about which department to choose and standing at the crossroads of your life? When you are hesitating, take a little time to read on, maybe it can help you. In my fourth year of study in the Department of Geography and Architecture, I was often asked if I was tired. Do I regret it? My answer is always I’m not tired and I don’t regret it, I like what I’m doing, I still remember a teacher once told me she loves her job, what she sees, what she thinks, what she feels in her body are all new things, we do our best for the whole environment, naturally you will love what you are doing, and come to CYCU Landscape Architecture, you will meet a lot of very lovely and serious teachers, in this side The teachers will follow you to the mountains and the sea, with pencil and paper to outline with you the beautiful world you imagine in your head, maybe there will be several nights watching the sunrise in this process, there will be stagnant frustrated to tears, but do not forget that you have a group of students with you to move forward, believe me here you will make the best friends, meet your life mentor, there are all kinds of activities waiting for you, so come ~ together to paint the world of your own. So come on, let’s draw your own future!
Are you thinking about what direction you should take next after finishing high school? Let’s think about what kind of person you are. If you love running and jumping outdoors, you can look forward to environmental experience courses; if you have a love for natural life, you can look forward to botany or environmental experience butterfly catching trips; if you love being around people, you can show off your talents in the countryside and tree classroom, learning how to communicate more effectively with the residents and even actually doing it together, and gradually looking at the space you are in from a different perspective in the process. It’s possible, of course, that you don’t know you love these things, so would you like to try them? What is the Department of Landscape Architecture doing? In the broadest sense, all spaces outside of buildings are part of the landscape architecture program, so we are people who care about the land. We learn how to think, communicate, work as a team and express our ideas in design classes; we learn how to convey light, shadows, emotions and ideas by hand in drawing classes; we learn to critically explore the use of space and the designer’s purpose from the beginning in space and culture classes; and we must learn how to organize our time in a tight schedule of classes and assignments. Some people say that they do not know what to do after graduating from the Landscape Architecture Department, but from another perspective, there are many possibilities after graduation. During the summer and winter months of the fourth year of school, there are seniors who have interned in the industry or in the faculty’s offices during the semester, which helps me understand what I want to do in the future and find out that there are actually many options for me as long as I am willing to try and take action. If you are interested in the life described above, welcome to the Department of CYCU Landscape Architecture!

Landscape Architecture is committed to transcending the traditional “landscape” field, breaking the systematic division of spatial professions (e.g. landscape, architecture, horticulture, ecology, urban design, urban planning, etc.) and emphasizing the integration of professional development. Landscape architecture involves the dynamics of time (continuous progress rather than momentary condensation) and the development of real life (social, cultural, humanistic, etc.), and seeks to realize a harmonious relationship between people and the environment and sustainable development.
The Department of Landscape Architecture at Chung Yuan Christian University (Chung Yuan Christian University) has a branding spirit, professional positioning, and business philosophy that focuses on cross-disciplinary, integrated, and sustainable environmental planning and design at the landscape scale. Therefore, students enrolled in this department can acquire knowledge and abilities in landscape design, urban and rural planning, urban design, symbiotic ecology, social design, placemaking, landscape management, community building, and public participation.
Government departments, planning and design-related firms, engineering consulting firms, educational institutions, research institutes, NGOs, local creative industries, tourism and leisure industries, and cultural and creative industries.
Art is a way to enter the field of design, but design ability is not only about drawing skills and aesthetics. University design learning focuses on design methodology, design thinking and secondary school, so students who do not come from a science class do not need to worry, and the department in the first and second years have arranged the relevant basic courses, including graphics, sketching, expression, computer graphics, etc., to help guide the students to learn.
There is no standard answer to design, so students are reminded not to get caught up in the whirlpool of perfect design. At the same time, the department continues to promote independent learning, group work, small class teaching and outdoor teaching to support students to learn in a diversified way and know how to manage their time well.
